Service Changes

Posted on Monday March 16, 2020 at 09:23PM

The Town of Vermilion Library Board is focused on balancing the health and safety of our staff and offering limited borrowing services. In review of guidelines from Alberta Health Services we have taken some steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As of Tuesday, March 16th the following changes will be implemented:

  • Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the facility, please wash your hands upon entry
  • Staff will increase the frequency and intensity of our sanitizing procedures, this includes disinfecting technology between users and the cleaning of furniture and equipment throughout the day
  • To keep up with sanitizing we have reduced the number of public workstations to 2
  • Staff will continue to encourage social distancing and limit patron visits to borrowing and brief computer use
  • All library programs and outreach services to the Vermilion Lodge are suspended
  • All bookings for meeting rooms, the basement, and exams are suspended
  • All non-essential high touch surfaces will be removed including toys, puzzles, headphones, the coffee maker and Duplo
  • All returned items will be checked-in but undergo a 3-day wait before they are re-shelved
  • All volunteer placements are suspended until further notice
The Vermilion Library will remain open for regular operating hours. Any changes to service will be shared on facebook, on our website and posted at the facility. If you are unable to visit your local branch; explore our digital resources where you can stream music and movies, take an online course from Lynda, check out an audiobook or eBook, browse magazines and much more. Call the library for any assistance you may need in making use of e-resources.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. For more information regarding COVID-19 please visit the Alberta Health Services website where they have now included an Online Screening Tool.
